| Over 3500 employees in Italy
- 90% men and 10% women; despite a greater male presence due to the traditional shortage of women in the more technical professions, the number of female employees at Terna is however increasing, even in highly-qualified executive positions of great responsibility. In 2008, the number of hired women in senior and lower level positions was 23% of the total number of newly-hired employees.
- The average age is 46 years old with a trend showing a reduction in age in the past three years due to generational turnover policies.
- High qualifications: 62% of the employees has a secondary school diploma or college degree (17% has a college degree, however, this number has been on the rise in the past three years and 45% has a secondary school diploma).
- 350 engineers, most of whom are “electrical” engineers.
- Over 1000 skilled workers and almost as many technical employees working throughout Italy.
- About 200 shift workers who are responsible for controlling power flows along the Grid.
