Terna's Security Operations Centre (SOC) is the control centre for instantly monitoring risk areas in the Terna Group. Through its control, governance and co-ordination activities, it can ensure real-time integrated security.

Terna's Security Operations Centre

For a Critical Infrastructure of national and European importance such as Terna, constantly updated details of the risk related to the various types of threat which the Terna Group and its Italian and international stakeholders are exposed to – as well as the measures to limit them – are key elements of the physical security system, of a safe workplace, in Cyber Security terms, and for the prevention of critical issues and fraud.

Within the sphere of the integrated management programme for the various security areas, Terna has its own Security Operations Centre (SOC) inspired from the outset by the most widely established international practices.
The SOC consists of a modern and advanced control room, staffed 24/7, 365 days a year by specialised operators able to rapidly correlate, analyse and manage the massive amounts of information sent in every day by various sources, coming from IT systems and from Terna's networks, and centrally processed.

Over 50 million items of security information coming from ICT platforms and from a sophisticated Video Surveillance and Anti-intrusion system are processed with the aid of cutting-edge technology to defend an extensive pool of computers, systems and offices of the Terna Group distributed across the entire country, to prevent and handle accidental and intentional or malicious events.

Collaboration with Institutions

The SOC maintains consolidated operating relations with external Security bodies both within Italy and internationally with a constant exchange of information aimed at preventing attacks or damage to the Group's infrastructures.
Terna has in fact signed Memorandums of Understanding with bodies in many spheres: with the CERT Nazionale and with the Computer Crime Prevention Working Group (CNAIPIC) to encourage the exchange of information for the prevention of cyber threats and prepare for nationwide IT security issues; with the Italian military police and the standard police force to promptly connect police stations and operating centres in the event of physical attacks or damage; and lastly with the Italian finance police to ensure strict checks and grant access to the highest possible number of companies to tender procedures and promote broader prevention activities for attempts at illegal infiltration.

The SOC can be contacted as indicated on the Contacts page of this website to report events or accidents relative to the security of infrastructures, people or information.
