Restructuring of the electricity infrastructure between the municipalities of Gambettola and Riccione will entail the demolition of overhead power lines in favour of underground cables
On 25 February in Riccione and on 26 February in Rimini, Terna will meet with citizens from the municipalities of Rimini, Riccione, Coriano, Gambettola, Gatteo, Savignano sul Rubicone, San Mauro Pascoli, San Martino and Sant’Arcangelo di Romagna to introduce the transmission grid restructuring projects for the entire Rivieria Romagnola area. In Riccione, from 20:30 on Monday 25, we will hold a public assembly in the town hall for the communities involved in the project. It will also be possible to consult the informative materials on the projects the following morning. However, in Rimini's Municipal offices, a Terna Meets event is scheduled for Tuesday 26, from 16:00 to 21:00, during which we will share the project details with the public.
The works on the 132 kV Rimini - Riccione ring aim to improve the security and efficiency of the local electricity system, especially during the summer season when consumption increases significantly. The project will also bring substantial environmental benefits thanks to the many kilometres underground power lines.
The electricity grid restructuring in the Rimini area involves 8 municipalities in total, in addition to Rimini and Riccione, the projects also involve Coriano, Sant’Arcangelo di Romagna, San Mauro Pascoli, Savignano sul Rubicone, Gatteo and Gambettola. The project entails the construction of new underground cables between the municipalities of Gambettola and Riccione, involving a total of 17 km of new “invisible” cables. Throughout the entire area involved, a total of 170 pylons and over 40 km of old power lines will be demolished. The aim is to improve the continuity and security of the energy transmission service, while minimising the presence of overhead power lines to the benefit of the territory.
Specifically, the plans for the Rimini area are:
The following power lines will be demolished:
Overall, the project in the Rimini area provides for 9.3 km of new underground power lines and 2 new pylons, compared to the 21 km of overhead lines and 84 old pylons which will be demolished.
The plans for the Riccione area are:
Overall, the project in the Riccione area provides for 6.5 km of new underground power lines, 2 new pylons and 0.1 km of new overhead lines, as well as the demolition of 40 pylons and 8.6 km of old overhead power lines.
