Electricity data is without doubt Terna's most important operational data asset, with statistical processing for the entire sector at the national level amongst its exclusive duties by law. Since 2000, cutting-edge tools have been used to collect the data recorded by around 4,500 operators, including producers and distributors, that we are now making available to all stakeholders, including those without technical knowledge.
Anyone interested in understanding how the energy consumption market has changed in Italy with industrial and economic evolution over the last twenty years or what progress has been made towards international decarbonisation goals – through fundamental parameters such as coverage of electricity demand – will find charts and files in this section with all the data from 2000 to 2022, divided by category.
This is a functional tool for market operators and analysts but also for a wider audience: regulatory bodies, journalists, institutions, environmental experts, directors, academics or those who are simply curious. We believe strongly in this datasharing project, convinced that our role as transmission and electricity system operator extends beyond our “energy responsibility” to include sharing of knowledge regarding a fundamental area like the energy transition, that affects us all.
